Visiting Kiddie Karrasel Academy

Updated: Jul 25, 2018

February was National Children’s Dental Health Month! To help bring awareness about the importance of oral health Josselyn and I went to Kiddie Karrasel Academy in Le Claire to talk to the preschoolers.

We talked to the children about healthy food choices, the importance of brushing twice a day with guidance from an adult, cleaning between the teeth with floss, and what to expect at their dental visits.

We had fun sharing dental knowledge with the kids and working to ensure their good oral health. The kids did a great job responding to our questions and showed that they are very bright!

Dental decay is one of the most prevalent, chronic diseases in children. It can affect their learning, speaking, sleeping and eating. The American Dental Association recommends brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, daily flossing, eating a balanced diet, and regular dental visits to address tooth decay at its earliest stages. We recommend seeing children as soon as their first teeth erupt, usually around age one. It is never too early to start!
